Mrs. Isabel Cantua, a resident of Cambria for the past forty-five years, died Sunday at six o’clock a. m. at her Cambria home after a protracted illness. She was a native of Santa Barbara and was seventy-four years old. The surviving relatives are one daughter, Mrs. Wm. Albert of San Luis Obispo; four sons, Fred, Jos., Wm. and Louis Cantua. all residents of Cambria, and Lupe Cantua, a resident of Santa Barbara. Three sisters are: Mrs. Castro of Monterey. Mrs. Gaxioja of San Francisco and Mrs. Isabel Closen of Arroyo Grande. The funeral will be held tomorrow from the Cambria home of the deceased. Mrs. Isabel Romero Cantua, a well known pioneer resident of Cambria, died at 5 o’clock Sunday morning, Feb. 9, 1913, after an Illness of several years. Deceased was native of Santa Barbara, born Oct. 20, 1835, and was aged 77 years, three months and twenty days. She was a decendant of one of the original Spanish families of California, her parents, Jose and Maria Olivers Romero, were both natives of Spain. In her sixteenth year she was married to Jose Cantua and shortly afterward came to San Luis Obispo county, where the husband died about thlrty.-slx years ago. She has been a resident of Cambria and vicinity about sixty years. Following are the surviving children: Lupe Cantua, Santa Barbara; Mrs. Mary Albert, San Luis Obispo; Fred, Joe, Louis and William Cantua, Cambria. The three children deceased are Mrs. Carmel Murphy, Mrs. Jennie Alm and Joaquin Cantua. A large number of relatives and friends attended the funeral which was held Tuesday at 10:30 a. m. at the Catholic church, where Rev. Fr. Flore of Cayucos celebrated high mass. Several selections were sung by the choir composed of Mrs. John Marquart, Mrs. E. S. Rigdon, Mrs. Amy Paterson, Mrs. Howard Rigdon, organist, and Messrs. W. M. Lyons and Howard- Rigdon. Following were the pall bearers: Joe Curti. W. A. Shaug. R. A. Mora, Geo. Gillispie, J. A. Pedrotta and John Marquart. The last resting place was beautifully decorated with flowers a tribute of esteem from many friends. Card of Thanks.
