"MRS. HOMER DAVIDSON PASSES AWAY HERE IN THE KAWEAH HOSPITAL

Long Illness Ends After Operation Saturday Failed to Improve Health

Mrs. Marjorie Davidson, wife of Homer Davidson of the Elbow district, passed 
away in [Visalia at] the Kaweah hispital [sic] at one o'clock yesterday morning 
[August 1] after an illness extending over a long period.  She was brought to 
the hospital Saturday, and an operation was performed in the hopes of bettering 
her condition, but she gradually weakened and passed away four days later.

Deceased was born in San Luis Obispo 28 years ago.  Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. 
Fred Van Gordon [Van Gorden], moved to the Elbow district several years ago and 
have resided there since.

She is survived by her husband, Homer Davidson; two daughters, and one son, her 
parents, two brothers, L. R. [Le Roy] Van Gordon [sic], county traffic officer, 
and Harry Van Gordon [sic]; an aunt Mrs. Cora Russell and a cousin, Clifford 
Russell.

Funeral services will be held this afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Hadley & 
Locey chapel and interment will be in the city cemetery [Visalia Cemetery]." END

Visalia Morning Delta (Visalia, California).  August 2, 1923 (Thursday).  Page 
2, Column 3.  Marjorie Van Gorden was born on December 20, 1894 in San Luis 
Obispo County (perhaps Cambria or San Luis Obispo city) to Fred Van Gorden and 
Lottie Mae (Stilts) Van Gorden. She married Homer John Thomas Davidson in 1913, 
probably in Tulare County.  She and Homer are both buried in the Visalia 
Cemetery.
