With the beginning of World War II, it was relocated to a grassy side hill north of Pismo Beach where it became a part of a "detention camp" for Japanese Americans. After the war, it was inhabited by a Philippino family named Monteo, who grew strawberries on the surrounding hillsides. The property is now owned by Mr. Harry MacDonald of Los Angeles. The building is no longer occupied and Mrs. M. A. Rodriquez is the only inhabitant of the old camp. The building is located at 700 Mattie Road, north of Pismo Beach. It is approximately 40 feet long and 20 feet wide, with a kitchen, and a main room. There is an outhouse located about twenty feet from the rear entrance. The building is constructed of stud walls with planking on the exterior and plaster on the interior. It has a low gabled roof with a facade containing a collage of faded superimposed letters reading "Canton Restaurant" and "Chop Suey and Noodles". The building is now very dilapidated.
