Designed by the railroad, the two-story wood frame building contained the agent's residence upstairs, a waiting room, ticket and telegraph, and a baggage and freight room downstairs. Until the 1940's the building was kept busy with passenger and freight traffic requiring the staffing of many. The design of the building is clean and relatively free of gingerbread detail that was prevalent on many of the buildings at that time. There are simple ornamental configurations cut into the ends of some rafters and supports. The exterior is horizontally placed siding interrupted only by panelled doors or windows. The shake roof appears to be the original and is still serviceable. Structurally sound, the building has some function even now. The agent's residence has not been occupied since 1949 and is now boarded shut. The waiting room, once filled with travelers, now occasionally houses a track repair crew. The agent's office still functions with only one-sixth the employees. The primary concern of the agent is to schedule and process the few refer cars of produce that leave periodically during the harvest seasons. Today the freight house is leased to an adjacent produce company for storage of boxes. It is felt that the old station has outlived its usefulness, and will be torn down soon. It sits today with peeling paint, broken windows, and trash all around. There are no surviving records concerning the construction of the station as the Oceano City Hall and records were destroyed by fire several years ago. Sources: Mr. R. O.
