J. Clarke (1928) A. C. KLEEMEYER Earnest, purposeful and diligent, A. C. Kleemeyer, principal of the grammar school, has steadily advanced in his profession and is working effectively to stimulate the progress of South San Francisco along educational lines. A native of Achim, Germany, he was born August 13, 1890, and was but a year old when his parents came to the United States. His early instruction was received in one of the parochial schools of South Chicago, Illinois, and in 1900 he became a pupil in the Willow Glen grammar school at San Jose, California, which he attended for five years. From 1905 until 1908 he was employed along various lines and continued his studies in the Longfellow school and the high school at San Jose. He took a two years' course in the San Jose Normal School which he completed in 1914, and was awarded a secondary certificate by the fine arts department of the University of California. Mr. Kleemeyer also attended the summer school of Leland Stanford, Jr., University and since 1914 has been a resident of South San Francisco, where he is principal of the grammar school and also acts as district superintendent of schools. Thoroughly understanding the needs of the pupils, he has instituted a number of improvements and during his tenure of office much important and valuable work has been accomplished. Mr. Kleemeyer is a member of the Exchange Club and the Masonic order, belonging to Francis Drake Lodge, No. 376, F. & A. M., and also is connected with the Eastern Star. He is an able exponent of his profession and through close study and practical experience is constantly broadening his knowledge and widening his field of usefulness.
