J. Clarke (1928) GUY J. RONEY Guy J. Honey is devoting his talents to public service and his work as an educator means much to South San Francisco. A native of Indiana, he was born June 20, 1895, in Leisure, Tipton county, and completed a course in the high school at Fairmount, that state. He attended a junior college in Fullerton, Orange county, California, and next matriculated in Stanford University, from which he was graduated with the class of 1917. Mr. Roney has always taken a keen interest in athletic sports and while a student at the last named institution was made captain of the soccer team, also becoming proficient in basketball. In 1918 he went to San Francisco as head of the physical education department of the Mission high school, with which he was connected for three terms, and he afterward filled a similar position in the Lowell high school of that city. He took charge of the high school at Half Moon Bay in February, 1920, and since 1924 has been principal of the high school and superintendent of the secondary schools of South San Francisco. He utilizes the most effective educational methods and his work is marked by enthusiasm, intelligence and an infinite capacity for taking pains. Mr. Roney was married to Miss Avis Irene Bash, also a native of the Hoosier state, and they have become the parents of a son, Charles Edward, who was born May 23, 1917. Mr. Roney is a trustee of the South San Francisco Library and a member of the Exchange Club and Kappa Sigma, a college fraternity. He keeps in close touch with the latest developments in the educational field and his energy, ambition and ability insure his continued progress in the profession of his choice. Mr. Roney is a young man of pleasing personality and his work has been strongly commended by the citizens of South San Francisco, who are thoroughly appreciative of his worth.
