J. Clarke (1928) JOHN MURDOCK VICKERSON John Murdock Vickerson is one of the highly respected citizens of Burlingame who, after a long, active and successful business career, is now retired from active affairs and is enjoying well earned leisure. Born in Canada, he is a son of William and Ann (McLeod) Vickerson, both of whom were natives of that country, where the father engaged in farming and stock raising. John M. Vickerson attended the public schools of his home neighborhood and in 1892 came to California. For the past thirty years he has resided in San Mateo county and for many years engaged in building and contracting, in which he built up a large business, gaining an enviable reputation as a reliable and competent contractor, many of the best buildings in this section of the state standing in evidence of his careful and painstaking work. He carried on this business until about five years ago, when he retired. In 1897 Mr. Vickerson was united in marriage to Miss Elizabeth Mclnnis, who also is a native of Canada and is a daughter of Kenneth and Mary Ann (McLeod) Mclnnis. She attended the public schools of the Dominion and completed her education in Prince of Wales College. She is a past president of the Burlingame Women's Club, a past president of the North Burlingame Community Club, a member of the Presidents' Assembly of San Francisco and for the past ten years has served as a member of the school board. She is also a communicant of the Protestant Episcopal church of Burlingame. Mr. and Mrs. Vickerson have been worthy citizens of this community, taking a commendable interest in its progress and welfare, and hold a high place in the esteem and confidence of all who know them.
