Surprise Birthday Party

   Little Alce Dubois, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Dubois, was given a
surprise party last Saturday at the home of her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Chas.
Dubois, in honor of her ninth birthday anniversary, which occurred the day before.
   Her grandmother planned to have the little guests arrive at 2 p. m. and
arranged for guest of honor to come at 2:30 p. m., and upon her arrival as she
entered the door she was completely surprised when she was surrounded by her
little friends.  Games occupied the hours until 4:30, when they were all invited
to the birthday table.  This was prettily decorated in red and white with favor
baskets of green and red, filled with candles marking each place, and a birthday
cake with nine candles adorning the center.  Ice cream and cake were served, and
after the refreshments the birthday presents were unwrapped and duely admired. 
Just before leaving for home Mrs. Dubois presented each guest with a green and
red crepe paper bon bon in which she had placed a little doll and stick of candy.
   Those present were:  Alce and Louis Dubois, Marguerite Dubois, Ruth Pillow,
Rosetta Newbold, Winifred Taylor, Mary Dyer, Mabel Welchert, Esther Bearee [?],
Majory Carlton, Ida Jones.
