Services will be conducted at the Methodist church at 2:30 o’clock with the Rev. E. Walter Squires, minister, officiating. Music will be by Mrs. John Jones and Mrs. Frank Thompson. Interment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Acton was born January 28, 1867 in England. He came to the United States when he was 19 years old. Coming to Morgan Hill in 1910, he engaged in ranching and has been a rancher here ever since. While living in Lynd, Minnesota, he was a constable. Acton has served on the board of the Methodist Church, was a former City Councilman of Morgan Hill and a stockholder and director of the Farmers Union before it was sold to Lee Buchheister. Acton’s father, grandfather, and brother were Episcopal [Anglican] rectors in England. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Charlotte L. Acton; a son J. Edward Acton of Morgan Hill, a daughter Halcyon Glidewell of Berkeley; and two grandsons Edward McIntosh Acton, studying for his PhD in Boston, and John Alan Acton of Morgan Hill.
