She was 92. A native of Lochiel, Glengarry County, Ontario, Canada, she came to Morgan Hill in 1926. She came to visit her sister, Mrs. Herald (Donalda) Ward, and her aunt, Mrs. George (Annie) Lynch, widow the early Morgan Hill banker (whose house still stands on West Central Avenue across from the Britton School Auditorium). She married John Edward Acton on December 7, 1926, living on East Dunne Avenue until 1955 and then on West Main until 1986. Mrs. Acton was an assistant cashier at the Bank of Montreal, Quebec, Canada, and a homemaker. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Morgan Hill, Manzanita Chapter 342 OES, Morgan Hill Flower Lovers Club, Morgan Hill Grange, Morgan Hill School PTA, El Toro Republican Women’s Club, WCTU, Stitch and Chatter Sewing Circle and the Children’s Home Society (Alice in Wonderland Chapter). She is survived by her son Edward M. Acton of Menlo Park, daughter-in-law Virginia Acton of Morgan Hill, nieces and nephews include Paul Ward of Morgan Hill, John Ward of Menlo Park, Wilma Duquette of La Crescenta, California. She was preceded in death by her son, Alan Acton, and her husband Funeral services will be Saturday at 10:30 am at the United Methodist Church, 17175 South Monterey Road, Morgan Hill, under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. The family asks that any contributions be made to the United Methodist Church, 17175 South Monterey Road.
