Irene M. Bailey Died peacefully on March 6 at O'Connor Hospital. Born in Erie, 
Pennsylvania, she moved with her family to Aberdeen, Washington at the age of 
12. She attended the University of Washington and married Clifford Mercer. She 
was widowed at a young age, with two daughters under five years old. In 1956 
she moved her family to San Jose, where she returned to college and graduated 
summa cum laude from San Jose State. She had a long career as a CPA, becoming 
a partner in Atkinson, Lee, Fanelli & Co., and ending her career with Johanson 
& Yau. In 1970 she married Frank Bailey and they moved to Saratoga where they 
were members of Sister City. Irene loved to travel and with Frank saw many 
parts of the world including Tahiti, China, Turkey, Japan, Alaska and Brazil. 
She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. She leaves behind her 
daughter, Marilyn Mercer, her daughter and son-in-law Christine and Randall 
Montes, her granddaughter and her husband, Adrienne and Essey Woldegiorgis, 
granddaughter, Nicole Hidalgo and her fiance Phil Gates, sister-in-law, Lil 
Wallace, and her great-grandson, Demitros Woldegiorgis. She was a beloved aunt 
to Sue Mullen, Rick Johnson, David Johnson, Nancy Targus, and Joyce Greene and 
many other nieces and nephews and their spouses and children. Preceded in 
death by her husbands, her sisters Elaine Johnson, Doris Frizzell, and Rita 
Targus, brother John Mannion and Danny Mannion, and nephew Bob Johnson. The 
family wishes to thank her physician, Dr. John P. Hurwitz, and the nurses at 
O'Connor PCU, CCU, and Oncology Unit for their tremendous care and support. A 
Memorial Service will be held Thursday, March 11 at 11 a.m. at the Neptune 
Society, 798 So. 2nd Street, San Jose. In lieu of flowers donations may be 
made to Via Rehabilitation, 2851 Park Ave., Santa Clara.

Mannion and Sadie M. Feirer Mannion. Married January 31, 1942 to Clifford 
Menzies Mercer at St. Mary's Church, Aberdeen, WA (Cliff Mercer, b.March 25, 
1917, d.February 1953 Aberdeen, Grays Harbor, WA).  Married 1970 to Francis W. 
Bailey in California (Frank Bailey, b.April 29, 1920, d.December 28, 1998 
Saratoga, Santa Clara, CA).
