Death of Andrew Dahlgren
   Andrew Dahlgren, and old resident of the Uvas district, died at his home
Sunday, May 21, 1911, at the age of 63 years, 11 months and 27 days.
   Mr. Dahlgren hade not enjoyed good health for a year prior to his death and
underwent an operation several months ago.
   Mr. Dahlgren came to Santa Clara county from Sweden thirty-six years ago, and
with his family has made his home on the 400-acre farm on the Uvas since
purchasing it 23 years ago.  He was of a quite, retiring disposition, and was
highly respected by all who knew him.  He was a member of Scandia Lodge,
I.O.O.F., of San Jose.  Besides his widow, Hannah Dahlgren, he leaves three
sons, John Dahlgren of Vallejo, Almar and Fred Dahlgren of the Uvas, a daughter,
Mrs. A. Dalhberg of San Francisco, and a brother, Daniel Dahlgren of Redwood City.
   The funeral was held on Tuesday from the undertaking parlors of W. L. Woodrow
in San Jose, the interment being in Oak Hill cemetery.


Additional Comments:
The 1880 census, Santa Clara County, shows Andrew with his wife, Henrietta, age
34, daughter Emma, age 9, and son John, age 7, all born in Sweden.  They were
living in Almanden Township.  

In the 1900 census, Andrew and Hannah are once again listed in Almaden Township,
living with Almar, born February 1884, and Freddy, born November 1888.  Andrew
was born May 1850 and Hannah July 1848.  They were married 24 years.

In 1910 Andrew was living in the Burnett district where the Uvas area was
enumerated.  He is listed with Johanna (Hannah), Almer J., age 26, and Frederick
H., age 21.  Almer and Frederick were born in California.  Andrew and Johanna
are listed as married 40 years.  Living next door is John O. Dahlgren, his wife,
Etta, and children John A., age 5 and Hardy, age 3.
