It appears that Mr. Gosney had just unharnessed his team and, as the horses ran into the barn, one of them playfully kicked, striking Mr. Gosney in the side and causing a break in the intestines. The full injury was not known at first, although he was attended by a physician at his home. On Monday it became evident that he was seriously injured and he was removed to Dr. Clark’s hospital at Gilroy, where an examination revealed the full extent of the injury. The accident and his death coming to a man of such robust health and activity has cast a gloom over the community and aroused a feeling of sympathy for his stricken widow and children. The funeral will be held at 2 o’clock this (Friday) afternoon at the family residence in Paradise Valley. Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
