Morgan Hill Times January 23, 1920

Death of Mrs. Catherine Harkness

   Sad news reached Morgan Hill on Monday, when it was learned that Mrs.
Catherine Harkness, wife of Thomas J. Harkness of Paradise Valley had died early
that morning in a San Jose hospital, leaving twin daughters only three days old.
 Pneumonia was the cause of her death.
   Mrs. Harkness was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John A. Wares and the sister
of Mrs. C. O. Prouse of San Jose, and was a native of that city.
   The funeral was held on Tuesday at the funeral parlors of Curray &
Gilpenstraw in San Jose, interment being at Oak Hill Cemetery.


Additional Comments:
Thomas and Catherine were the parents of Mazie H. and Catherine Harkness, born
January 17, 1920.  Their grandparents, Joseph H. and Catherine A. Beals
Harkness, raised them.  Thomas and Catherine had married in May 1919, a week or
so after he returned from fighting in World War 1.
