Joseph Harkness was born at Versailles, Pennsylvania October 1, 1896. He was the fourth son of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Harkness and besides his bereaved parents leaves five brothers to mourn his loss. He was a promising young man, well beloved by all those who knew him. His death is particularly sad, following as it does five months of that of the only daughter of the family, Mrs. Mazie Musser, who died in February of this year. Joseph had been sick for almost a year, contracting the dread disease tuberculosis last year while working in the hay field. The funeral services were held at the home at 9:30 o’clock, Monday morning, Rev. M. O. Brink officiating. The remains were then born to the Oak Hill cemetery, San Jose and laid to rest near those of his sister. " Additional Comments: Son of Joseph Harkness and Catherine Beals.
