Holly John R. Holly died at his home at the Morgan Hill homestead Tuesday evening, May 7th, 1918, at the age of 70 years after an illness of six months. He leaves to mourn his loss his widow, Mrs. Martha M. Holly, and one daughter, Mrs. Kathryn DeVoe, of Morgan Hill, one brother and four sisters in Ohio. Mr. Holly was born at Hamilton, Ohio. He came to California 35 years ago. He was in the shoe business in San Jose for many years and came to Morgan Hill about 17 years ago, the greater part of which time he was manager of the Bender ranch of 400 acres north of town. He was town marshal and tax collector for Morgan Hill the last few years. Being very genial and companionable, he had many friends who regret the passing of this kindly gentleman. The funeral was held yesterday afternoon at 1 o’clock from the family residence, Rev. H. H. Buckner of the Methodist church officiating. The interment was in Mt. Hope cemetery. Morgan Hill Times, May 17, 1918 Card of Thanks We sincerely thank our many friends who so kindly helped us, with their love and sympathy, through the sad hours of our bereavement. Mrs. J. R.
