Lynch Geo. R. Lynch passed away at his home on Monterey road, Thursday February 12th, 1920, at 2 a.m. after a long illness. The funeral will take place Saturday Feb. 14th from the Methodist Church. Interment in Mount Hope cemetery. February 20, 1920 Funeral of George R. Lynch The funeral of George R. Lynch was held on Saturday, February 14, 1920, at the Morgan Hill M. E. Church, where a large number of friends of the deceased including the Odd Fellows lodge in strong force gathered to pay a tribute of respect to his memory. The platform of the church was filled with beautiful floral pieces from different organizations with which he was connected. Rev. H. H. Buckner, formerly pastor of the Morgan Hill church and now pastor of the Twentieth Street Church in San Jose, gave the principal address, in which he spoke of the many good qualities in the character of Mr. Lynch, as he moved among men, and of his devotion to his faithful partner in life, who now had the sympathy of the community. Dr. W. H. Gillespie of the Presbyterian church spoke a few words, telling of the Christian faith and happy home life of Mr. Lynch as he had known him through frequent visits at his bedside. Rev. L. P. Walker of the Methodist church read comforting portions of scripture. A quartet consisting of Mesdames Asmuth and Ward and Messrs. F. V. Edwards and Lloyd Harrington, sang two hymns, Miss Agnes Ward presiding at the Organ. The interment was in Mount Hope Cemetery. George Lynch was born in St. Paul, Minnesota, in 1861 and was married to Miss McIntosh in 1893. He farmed successfully near Hutchinson, Minnesota, until 1900, when Mr. and Mrs. Lynch moved to Morgan Hill. Since then he had been actively or otherwise in all progressive movements. He was the vice president of the Bank of Morgan Hill from the time of its organization until his death, was a member of the first board of town trustees, serving for many years, was president of the Farmers Union Packing House until it was taken over by the California Prune and Apricot Growers Association, and president of the Morgan Hill Farmers Union at the time of his death. He was also president of the board of trustees of Love Oak Union High School and a member of Morgan Hill Lodge, I.O.O.F. His interest and liberality to all the churches and other worthy causes were characteristic of the large spirit of this man. As a business man, a courteous gentleman and a true friend the place of Mr. Lynch will be hard to fill. Additional Comments: George R. Lynch was adopted by Matthew W. Lynch and his wife, Lydia Whiting Dunham Lynch, in Minnesota when he was 5 years old. Matthew died before George and Annie McIntosh Lynch came to California. Lydia came with her son and is buried in the same plot with him and Annie.
