Lynch passed away peacefully at the home of her adopted son, George R. Lynch, shortly after 7 o'clock Tuesday evening, November 12, 1912, at the advanced age of 88 years, 4 months and 10 days. Mrs. Lynch's maiden name was Lydia Whiting Dunham. She was born in New York state June 21, 1912 [sic] and was married at Pittsfield, Massachusetts, on New Year's Day, about 65 years ago to Matthew W. Lynch, who died November 6, 1891. Mr. and Mrs. Lynch were pioneers of Wisconsin having moved there shortly after their marriage. In 1856 they moved to Minnesota. They adopted George R. Lynch when we was about 5 years old, and he has proved a most faithful son, both he and his wife doing all that loving hearts and hands could do for her in her declining years and in her long illness. Mrs. Lynch was an earnest member of the Baptist church for about 70 years. Until her advanced years and declining health forced her to remain home she took and active part in church work and a lively interest in the affairs of town. For many years she was intensely interested in the work of the Children's Christian Home, and undenominational [sic] orphanage in Des Moines, Iowa, and contributed largely toward it and otherwise assisted by interesting her friends in behalf of these orphan children. Her health had been poor for several years but her brave spirit kept her up most of the time. However, since last April she has been obliged to remain quietly at home although she was able to be up and dressed nearly every day. Three weeks ago she began to fail and gradually grew weaker till she fell quietly asleep last Tuesday. The funeral was held from the Baptist church at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon, the pastor, Rev. Willard Fuller, officiating, and the choir furnished several appropriate selections. The church was very prettily decorated only pure white flowers being used with green foliage. At the grave in Mount Hope cemetery a mass of white flowers covered the casket and mount. Short services were held there also. Additional Comments: Lydia's birth year was 1824, per census records.
