Sc., Glasgow, Scotland. Death of Mrs. Margaret Raitt Mrs. Margaret Raitt, mother of Margaret, Roberta and Phillip Raitt, died at her home on Dunne avenue, Monday, May 6th, 1918. Mrs. Raitt was born November 3rd, 1849, in Ireland, although of Scotch parentage. Her father was William Ollphant of the House of Gask, Perth, Scotland, and an officer in the British army. She was married in 1871 in Edinburgh, Scotland, to the late William Raitt, Professor of Mathematics in the Glasgow and West of Scotland Technical College. After his death in 1898 she went out to New Zealand with her son and two daughters to be near her elder son, who had gone out the year before. When he died, seven years later, she came almost directly to Morgan Hill, where she has resided for the last fifteen years. She is survived by her three youngest children, there being three older ones who died I youth. She was a devoted mother and a kind friend. The funeral services were held at the home Wednesday afternoon, Rev. W. B. Gillespie of the Presbyterian church officiating. The interment was at Mt. Hope. Cemetery.
