Stephens Mrs. Jennie E. Stephens, widow of George Stephens, passed away at her house in the foothills east of Morgan Hill on Sunday night, October 1, 1922. Mrs. Stephens had been in poor health for a long time and had been in a hospital a part of the time for operations and treatment. She took care of her three grandchildren, Elgin, Evelyn and Charlotte Thomas, as long as her health permitted, and leaves them to mourn her loss. She also leaves a brother, Willard S. Detmur [sic], of Gilroy. Mrs. Stephens was a native of Wisconsin, aged 65 years, 5 months and 10 days. The funeral was held on Wednesday afternoon from the Presbyterian church, Morgan Hill, a San Jose minister officiating, the interment being in Mount Hope cemetery. Additional Comments: Jane "Jennie" Elizabeth Wetmur Stephens was a daughter of Sylvanus C. Wetmur and Sarah Jane McCarthy. She married George Stephens in Wisconsin. He is buried with her in Mount Hope Cemetery. They were the parents of William H. Stephens, Lillian Almeda Stephens, Mary Jane Stephens, Charles Herbert Stephens, and Laura Amanda Stephens.
