Morgan Hill Times, November 17, 1922

Funeral for Mrs. Mary Hawkins

   Mrs. Mary Hawkins died at her home in San Jose Tuesday morning, Nov. 14th,
1922, at the ripe age of 87 years.  Services were held at the undertaking
parlors of Curry & Gripenstraw with interment at Mount Hope cemetery, Morgan Hill.
   Mrs. Hawkins leaves to mourn her loss three daughters, all who are well
known:  Mrs. Leola [sic] Baker and Miss Essie [sic] Hawkins of San Jose and Mrs.
Minerva A. Kelly of Paradise Valley.

   The funeral was held on Wednesday afternoon from the Presbyterian church,
Morgan Hill, a San Jose minister officiating, the interment being in Mount Hope
cemetery.


Additional Comments:
Mary was the widow of John F. Hawkins.  Their children were Dexter A. Hawkins,
Minerva A. Hawkins Kelley, Vesta V. Hawkins who died as a child, Viola Hawkins
Baker, and Effie J. Hawkins who never married and was a school teacher.
