Death came to relieve his sufferings about 4 o'clock Wednesday morning, February 21st, 1912. Three physicians had labored to save the boy's life but without avail and the young spirit took flight to the Heavenly Father. Paul was the second son of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Ward. He was born July 17, 1898, and was 13 years, 7 months and 4 days old. He was in the 7th grade in the Machado School, and a member of the Methodist Sunday School. A bright, manly boy, his life full of promise, his death is indeed a sad bereavement to his devoted parents and other loved ones, who have the sympathy of the entire community in their hour of sorrow. Besides his parents he is survived by two brothers, Harold and Donald Ward, and three sisters, Bernice, Edith and Agnes Ward, and his grandparents Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Ward and Mrs. Mary E. Gamble. The funeral was held from the home at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon, Rev. E. J. Bristow officiating. The remains were laid tenderly to rest in Mount Hope Cemetery, the grave being completely covered with beautiful flowers, among them being tributes from the Machado School and the Live Oak Union High School. Six of his school mates acted as pall bearers: Vivian Kelley, Charlie Casella, Tony Cibari, Joseph Pankowski, Thomas Harkeness and George Craft. Additional Comments: Paul Hulet Ward was the son of Wilbur H. Ward, and his wife, Bertha Gamble. His grandparents were James P. Ward and his wife, Ora J. Hulet.
