Miss Ward was the adopted daughter of Mrs and Mrs. J. P. Ward and had lived in Morgan Hill eight years. She was born in Minneapolis, April 5, 1884, and was, therefore, 22 years 9 months and 26 days old at the time of her death. She competed the Eighth Grade work at the Machado School and them took up the study of elocution. In May, 1906, she graduated with honors the Department of Elocution of the University of the Pacific and had intended to continue study at the school of _____ in Boston but was compelled to relinquish her cherished plans by gradually failing health. After nearly a year's illness death came to relieve the patient sufferer, who life held in it so much of promise of the future. Miss Ward was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church of this place, and Rev. Ernest Gregg pastor of the church, officiated at the funeral which took place from the home of her parents in Paradise Valley, Sunday Afternoon. The funeral was attended by a large circle of sorrowing friends, who had gathered to pay their last tribute of respect to the dear departed one. The remains were laid to rest in Mount Hope Cemetery. Additional Comments: Ruth Ward's adoptive parents were James P. Ward and Ora J. Hulet. They are all in the same plot in Mount Hope Cemetery and share the same tombstone.
