P. Ward James P. Ward died at his home in Paradise Valley, near Morgan Hill, at 6:30 o’clock Wednesday evening, aged nearly 82 years. He leaves to mourn his loss, his widow, Orra J. Ward, a son, W. H. Ward, a daughter, Miss E. Grace Ward, and an adopted daughter, Mrs. Gertrude Breton. Mr. Ward had lived here twenty-two years and took an active part in community and church affairs until failing health forced his retirement. The funeral will be held at the Methodist church this afternoon at 2 o’clock. Additional Comments: James P. Ward was the youngest son of Jacob & Lucinda Robinson Ward. He married Orra J. Hulet. Their two natural children were Wilbur Hulet Ward, born 1866, died 1932, and Edith Grace Ward, born April 24, 1877, died April 27, 1970. James and Orra adopted two daughters: Gertrude, born March 17, 1869, died January 24, 1950, wife of J. W. Breton; and Ruth, born April 05, 1884, died February 01, 1907. Edith Grace and Ruth Ward are buried in the same plot as their parents. Neither married.
