Morgan Hill Sun Times, December 18, 1903 Oren Eugene Wetmur The large congregation that gathered last Friday afternoon to pay the last token of respect to Eugene Wetmur, testified to the fact that the Community was touched by the hand that had taken him from its midst. Mr. Wetmur was in his 43 year, the youngest child of Willard Sylvester, and Sarah Jane Wetmur. He was born in Winnebago County, Wisconsin, October 13, 1861. The greatest part of the last 14 years of his life was spent in California. Two years were spent in San Francisco where he was employed at fine work in the shoe factory, and 12 years in Morgan Hill. Two seasons were spent in Alaska one near Nome and one near Himes, from whence he returned about two months ago suffering from a severe attack of the Grippe from which he did not fully recover. His death resulted from heart trouble, and occurred on Tuesday evening Dec. 8. Three brothers and three sisters survive him. One sister had died before. It was his request that all his effects and property pass into the hands of his brother William [Willard] who resides in Gilroy.
