Mr. Eustice was born in British Hollow, Grant County, Wisconsin, and was aged 75 years, 7 months and 25 days. He came to Gilroy in 19872, and engaged in the wheelright business with his brother George Eustice, now deceased, who owned a blacksmith shop at Sixth and Eiglebery streets for a number of years. Mr. Eustice lived here until about twenty years ago, when he moved to San Mateo. He returned to Gilroy about six years ago, and has resided most of the time with his son Steve at Rucker. Mr. Eustice was a quiet genial gentleman. He was married to Mrs. Anna Babb, who died six years ago, and the following children were the fruit of this union: Henry of Turlock, Steve of Gilroy, Mrs. Bertha Miller of Mountain View and Will of San Mateo. Jas. T. Babb of Morgan Hill is a step-son. There are also two brothers and one sister, namely Wm. Eustice of Los Banos, Steve Eustice of Davenport, Iowa, and Mrs. Kate Fox of Kansas. The immediate cause of his death was a stroke of apoplexy about a week ago. Mr. Eustice had followed the carpenter trade of late years. At one time he was a member of the Gilroy Fire Department and was also a member of the Christian Church. Funeral services were held at Barshinger's mortuary chapel on Friday morning. The services were in charge of Dr. McClellan. Interment was in the family plot in the Masons & Odd Fellows cemetery.
