Frances Josephine Van Gorden Dies

Frances Josephine Van Gorden, a Santa Cruz resident for 13 years, died Monday 
[December 16] in a local convalescent hospital.

A native of Mountain View [Santa Clara county], she was 99. Before coming here 
she lived 66 years in San Luis Obispo County. Her home here was [at] 145 Laguna 
St.

She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Edith Howerd of Santa Cruz, 2 
grandchildren, & a niece [Mrs. Irma Jacob of Watsonville].

Private services were today at Sutcliffe Mortuary, San Luis Obispo.  Interment 
followed there at IOOF Cemetery [San Luis Cemetery]. The Ferguson Mortuary 
handled local arrangements.

Page 16.  Francesco "Frances" Josephine Roome was the daughter of Edward and 
Encarnacion Roome. She was born December 8, 1869.  She married Ira J. Van 
Gorden (1863-1929) on December 18, 1893 somewhere in California.
