CRIGNON is a native of France, and was born November 30, 1819. After leaving school he learned the carpenter's trade. In 1843 he went to the Marquesas islands, where he remained until 1851, when he came to the United States, arriving in San Francisco in June. Shortly after, he began mining on the American river, at Coloma. In the spring of 1852 Mr. Crignon came to Downieville, where he has resided continually since, being engaged in mining most of the time.
