Mrs Sarah Ann Hartley, 79, wife of Joseph R Hartley, pioneer California and 
Nevada stockman died early Wednesday morning at her home in Wheatland where she 
had been ill the past three months. She was a native of Forest City, Sierra 
County. She had resided in Wheatland for 45 years. Mrs Hartley is survived by 
her husband, a daughter, Mrs Myrtle Bresnan of Wheatland, a son, William 
Hartley and a sister, Miss Florence Hatcher. She also leaves two grandsons, 
Donald J and Robert Hartley. She was a member of the Wheatland chapter of the 
Order of Eastern Star and was for many years active in the organization and in 
social and club life of her community. 
The family long has occupied a high place in the life of the community. Funeral 
services will be held in the chapel of Lipp & Sullivan Friday at 2 pm and the 
body will be taken to the Wheatland cemetery for interment.
