Death of Mrs. Patterson.
Mrs. Mary J. Patterson, wife of Mr. J. R. Patterson, one of the pioneer ladies 
of this county, who resided for many years in Yreka, died at her home place in 
Shasta Valley last Saturday, at the age of 63 years. Mrs. Patterson is a 
sister of Mrs. Sam Jackson, and the late Mrs. E. W. Conner, and mother of 
Harry H and Etta Patterson, also of the wife of the Rev. Chas. Miller, now 
residing in Europe. She was highly respected by all as a devoted wife, 
affectionate mother, kind neighbor and good Christian woman, in whose loss the 
family and relatives have the sincere sympathy of all. Her funeral took place 
from the M. E. Church in Yreka last Monday afternoon, and the remains were 
followed by a large number of friends and acquaintances to their last resting 
place in Evergreen Cemetery, near this city. 

Additional Comments:
Mrs. J. R. Patterson, of Edgewood, died at her home at that place last 
Saturday, May 7th, after a lingering illness. Mrs. Patterson was the mother of 
several grown children, among them being H. H. Patterson, Miss Ettie Patterson 
and Mrs. Miller, who, with her husband are left to mourn her death. She had a 
host of friends who admired her for the many evidences of a Christian heart 
which she displayed. Deceased was aged 63 years, 5 months and 21 days.
