Honorably Discharged 20 Oct 1862, York Hospital, Baltimore. Doc 1) Stamped by US Pension Office 24 Jun 1881: Invalid Claim for Pension Sworn 11 June 1881 William Linley RANNELLS Deposed in State of California, County Tehama, resident of Olimpo, Colusa County. Age 43 (b 1837) Enrolled in May or June 1862 in Co G 60th Regiment Ohio Vol Inf. Commanded by Capt William IRVINE, was honorably DISCHARGED at Baltimore MD in November 1862. Age 43 5'9" light complexion, light hair, blue eyes. Near Winchester Virginia in July or Aug 1862 he was hurt by fallinhg timber while engaged on the fortifications near Winchester VA the timber falling on the small of the back, an injury to the back caused diabetes from which he suffers, and from hard marching and exposure contracted disease of the eyes from which he suffers the loss of sight in one and partial loss of sight in the other. That he was in treated in hospital as follows. 3 or 4 days by Regimental Surgeon. In Hospital at Winchester VA by Surgeon Degrau, transferred to Soldiers Home Hospital at Baltimore MD from there to Little York, PA Sixth Ward Hospital. Discharged on or about Nov 1st 1862. That since leaving the service he has resided in the County of Calusa in California. His occupation is minister of the gospel. He was healthy prior to joining the army. Disabled by Diabetes and loss of one eye and partial loss of other, causual at Winchester VA July or Aug 1862. Discharged Nov 1862. Please give full Military History. Discharged on Surgeon's Certificate of Disability Oct 20 of 1862 at York Hospital, PA. The name Wm S Rannells not borne on Rolls of C? Co was stationed at Winchester VA Aug 31 1862. Certificate fo Disability shows him Discharged Oct 20, 1862 at Baltimore. Cause of being in Hospital not stated. No evidence of alleged disabilities. Regimental Hospital records not on file. Doc 4) Stamped by US Pension Office 10 Sep 1890 Act of June 27, 1890, Soldiers Application, Declaration for Invalid Pension Sworn: 2 Sep 1890 State of California, County Tehama, Deponent William Linley RANNELLS resident of Kirkwood. Age 53 (b 1837) Wholly unable to earn living due to disease of eyes and urinary trouble. That he is a pensioner number 465,137. Witnesses: Alton B WALKER of Kirkwood, CA has known William L for over 1 year (1889) John WOODARD of Kirkwood CA has known William L for 2 years (1888) Doc 5) Pensioner Dropped William L RANNELLS Because of death Aug 4, 1902. Doc 6) Stamped by US Pension Office 24 Mar 1905 Widow Original Claim for Pension Sworn: 18 Feb 1903, Solano Co, CA Deponent: Elinor Rannells age 64. She is the widow of William aL Rannells who enlisted unde the name of William L Rannells at Gallipolis Ohio on the 25 May 1862 in the War of the Rebellion and who died at Vallejo, Solano Co, CA on 4 Aug 1902. She was married under the name of Elinor PRICHARD to said William L Rannells on the 15th Nov 1860 by Rev H Newman at Gallipolis Ohio, that said William L Rannells had been married prior to marrying Claimant to one Francis DICKERSON who died at Chester Ohio in 1858. That she claimant continued to live with her said husband William L RANNELLS up to time of his death, and remains a Widow to this date. Witnesses James MONROE of 201 Georgia St, Vallejo, CA & W. H. J. McDONALD age 44, resident of the City of Vallejo, Solano Co, CA PO Address No 216 Virginia St, Vallejo, CA. He is the County Coroner, and an Undertaker in Vallejo. He buried William L Rannells 6 Aug 1902 who had died 4 Aug 1902. He died of Pneumonia. Doc 8) Stamped by US Pension Office 31 May 1905 Additional Evidence Claim of Widow of Wm L RANNELL Claimant's Affidavit Sworn: 18 May 1905 Solano Co, CA Deposition by Elinor RANNELLS widow of William L RANNELLS late a Private in Co G 60 Regt ohio Inft Vols. Elinor RANNELLS, aged 65 resident of Vallejo, Solano Co, CA. She has no means of support except from her own exertions aa a seamstress and wash woman, am notin receipt of any income from any source whatever except as above. Nor is anyone bound for may support in any way. And that my husband had no life insurance at the time of his death. Appfiant further says that her said husband was in receipt of a pension of $12.00 per month for some years prior to his death, but that she has been unable to find his Pension certificate since his decease and is of the opinion that his said certificate was lost or mislaid by him after he secured the same. The amount of my earnings does not exceed the sum of five dollars per month. Signed Elinor RANNELLS Sworn before Joel A HARVEY, Notary Public Doc 9) Stamped by US Pension Office 17 Jun 1905 Additional Evidence Claim of Widow of Wm L RANNELLS Sworn: 9 Jun 1905, Solano Co, CA Deposed by: Emily PATTEN, age 47, resident of Vallejo Township, Solano Co, CA and Ida PASSALT age 39, resient of Valejo Township, Solano Co, CA state they are personally acquainted with Elinor RANNELLS for two year and five years respectively and that she is the owner and poseseor of five building lots located in an addition to the City of Vallejo known as "Vallejo Heights" containing one fourth of an acre of land or there about (each lot being 50x 150 feet) Improvements thereon consist of an unfinished dwelling house., shed stable and chicken house, all enclosed by an ordinary board fence and bring of the value of about six hundred and fifty dollars that she is also the owner of a small lot of house hold and kitchen furniture contained in said dwelling of the value of about fifty dollars and five (5) doz chickens of the value of $25.00 or thereabouts and that there has been no change in the character or value of said property since 1903. Amount of expenses for taxes, insurance etc 1903 $18.00 and for the year 1904 19.00. During said years the real property was encombered by a mortgage of $300.00 held by a Building and Loan Society, monthly payments,therein at the rate of $6.30 making the annual of interest about $36.00. That she is not in receipt of any income from any source being wholly dependant upon her own exertions for her support, nor was anyone legally bound for her support during any portion of said time.Signed Emily PATTEN, Ida PASSALT.
