(1880) Fritsch, John R. Born in Petaluma, Sonoma county, California, on May 26, 1854. As soon as he was old enough to attend the common schools of his native town he did so, and acquired those rudiments that ripened in after life to a good practical knowledge of the business affairs of life. In 1874, he entered the Pacific Business College at San Francisco, where he finished his education, graduating May 9, 1875. On April 1, 1879, he embarked in the dry goods business, under the firm name of "McClymonds & Fritsch."
