Santa Rosa Engine Company, No. 1, was organized in 1860. W. H. Crowell was the first president; T. L. Thompson was the first foreman, and John Ledwidge was tlje first assistant. The present officers are: C. C. Farmer, president; T. L. Thompson, foreman; C. Kessing, first assistant; M. Wise, second assistant; Joe Richardson, treasurer, and J. D. Doychert, secretary. The Santa Rosa Hook and Ladder Company was organized in 1874. A. Korbel was the first foreman; J. Royal was the first assistant. The present officers of the company are: J. Royal, foreman; E.
