He is survived by three sons, Louis of San Jose, Bill of Watsonville and Mike Alberti of Patterson; two daughters, Doris Rommel of Modesto and June Wheeland of Patterson; a brother Eddie Alberti of Pt. Austin, who had been a Patterson resident two years, was in the process of moving to Galt. Ayres, who died at Gold Beach, Oregon May 10, was twice master of the local lodge and served as an advisor with the Job s Daughters Bethel. A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Collins spent 28 years as a chemical engineer in Hawaii before studying for the ministry and being ordained in 1962. Gill was a native of Oakley, attended grammar school in Westley and grad- uated from Patterson High School in l942. He served in the United States Army during World War II. Following the war he returned for a brief time to Patterson before moving to eastern Contra Costa County where he has continued to make his home. He was in the nursery business with his family and operated the Antioch Evergreen Nursery. Grischott David A 771222 np Auto Accident Takes Life of Patterson Man; Graveside services were held Monday afternoon at Patterson District Cemetery for David Alan Grischott, 20, of Patterson, who was killed in an automobile accident on Highway 83 near Fruit Avenue late Friday. The California Highway Patrol said yesterday it still is investigating the crash, which also claimed the life of Myrtle Young, 83, of Lathrop. Although there were no witnesses to the accident, CHP officers said Mrs. Young s car apparently went off the roadway, causing her to lose control and come back into the southbound lane, striking the Grischott vehicle nearly head-on. Both were killed instantly. The accident occurred at 5:35 p.m. about 220 feet south of Fruit. CHP officers were checking Mrs. Young s car at mid-week for mechanical defects, but the final report was not available. A lifelong resident of Patterson, Grischott was a 1975 graduate of Patterson High school, where he was a star football player and active in other sports. He was employed at Grischott Bros. Service in Westley. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Floren Grischott; a brother, Craig Grischott; a sister, Karen Bettencourt, all of Patterson; and grandparents, Mrs. Julia Grischott of Patterson and Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Starling of Gustine. His business brought him to the West Side frequently and he was well known in the area. He was a member of Modesto Lodge No. 675 F&AM, the Stockton Scottish Rite Bodies, and the First Methodist Church. He was an active member of the Mother Lode Gem and Mineral Society. Hammon Floyd 770324 np Services Held Tuesday for Floyd Hammon; Services were held Tuesday at Lakewood Memorial Park for Floyd Hammon, 78, who died Saturday in Turlock hospital. A native of Indian Territory, Oklahoma, Hammon came to Ontario, California in 1909 and became an apprentice electrician for Hotpoint Electrics at age 11. He married Connie Mae Aldridge in 1919 and they moved to Modesto in 1920. In 1930 they came to Patterson and Hammon worked at El Solyo Ranch for 11 years as an electrician and plumber. During World War II and until his retirement, he worked on military construction at various locations throughout the western states. Besides his wife he leaves a son, Edward of Patterson; two daughters, Clarece Hammon of Daly City and Barbara Ellington of San Francisco; three grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; three brothers; two sisters and many nieces and nephews, including Florence Stewart of Patterson. The vehicle Minjarez was driving was struck from behind, then left the roadway and struck a palm tree. The other car did not stop. Arrested later was Jimmy Ibarra, 22, of 214 S. Third St. who was booked into the county jail on felony charges of driving while intoxicated and hit and run. His auto was found at his home by city police officers. About mid-day Sunday, someone broke the windshield, rear window, two door windows, a back side window, and a headlight on the Ibarra auto as it was parked near his residence. Reynodls Deboral D 770127 p1 Canyon Mishap Kills Woman, 23; The wife of a young Pacific Gas & Electric Co. employee who had moved to the West Side only in the last several weeks was killed Sunday about noon at the rough terrain area near Frank Raines Park in the Del Puerto Canyon. Killed was Deborah Diane Reynolds, 23, of 28700 Draper Road, Newman. Her husband Robert, 30, suffered possible broken ribs and numerous cuts and abrasions about the upper part of his body. He was driving a four- wheel drive vehicle and apparently left the trail in the rough terrain area to climb up the side of a steep hill. The engine died, and the vehicle started to roll backwards, finally sliding sideways and overturning a number of times. After her husband s death, Mrs. Woolley moved to Modesto and then to Stockton in 1970. A well-known artist, she had exhibited her work in the United States and foreign countries. She was a member of the Modesto and Stockton art leagues and the National League of Penwomen which she served as national vice-president. Mrs. Wootley was also a member of Delta Kappa Gama, a national educator s society, and was dean of woman at Patterson High School for 20 years.
