Sausalito News, August 31, 1918
“Modesto. —Soledad Gonzalves, said to be the oldest native daughter in 
California, died at the age of 102 years at her home in Oakdale, near here. She 
was ill three days, the longest time she was ever confined to her bed in her 
long life. Her mother, Justo Larios, died at the age of 120 years at Oakdale 
ten years ago. Mrs. Gonzalves was born in Santa Clara county, and was in 
Monterey, birth place of her mother, when the American flag was first raised in 
California.” END
