Carnegie Of Meridian Merle L. Carnegie, 52, of Meridian, manager of the Tarke Warehouse Company for many years, died at 7:30 last night in Colusa memorial hospital. He had been brought to the hospital two days ago suffering a heart ailment. A native of Pennsylvania, born January 2, 1903, Mr. Carnegie had been a well known resident of Meridian for perhaps 35 years. He came to Meridian district when a young man with A. H. Edgar, former Colusan who recently moved to Ukiah. Mr. Carnegie, widely known and liked in western Sutter County, is survived by his wife, Mary; sons, Merle, Willis and Roger; daughter, Lynetta; and sister, Mrs. Alberta Watson of Meridian. He was a brother-in-law of Mrs. Gilbert Allen of Colusa. Funeral services are pending at J. D. McNary and Son Mortuary. Mr. Carnegie had been employed by the Tarke Warehouse Company for 25 years. Services, it was announced later, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Meridian Methodist Church with the Meridian Odd Fellows Lodge of which Mr. Carnegie was a member, conducting graveside rites in the family plot, Meridian Cemetery. Mrs. Rudolph Paletta of Colusa is also a surviving sister-in-law.
