Elmer DeWitt
Retired rancher Elmer DeWitt, 71, a member of a pioneer Sutter County family 
and a lifelong resident, died yesterday in Rideout Hospital in Marysville. 
Yesterday was his 71st birthday. He was born Oct 27, 1909 in Sutter. He 
belonged to Hammonton Masonic Lodge of Sutter, the Washington Chapter no 13, 
Royal Arch Masons of Sutter, Marysville Council no 3 Royal and Select Masters 
of Sutter, the Marysville Commandery No 7, Knights Templar of sutter and the 
Ben Ali Temple of the Shrine of Sacramento. Memorials to the American Cancer 
Society have been suggested by the family. Funeral arrangements are pending at 
Ullrey Memorial Chapel in Yuba City. Survivors include: his wife, Melva DeWitt 
of Sutter; two daughters, Sherrilyn Kersting of Fairfield, Swennyth LaMiada of 
Fairfield, Ariel George of Sutter; a brother, Carl DeWitt of Sutter; five 
grandchildren and one great grandchild.
