Park entered into rest in her 100th year on October 17, 2009. A native of Sutter County, Ca. Edwina was born to Edward P. and Edwina S. Dean at their home ranch on August 3, 1909. An accelerated student, she graduated from Sutter Union High in 1926 and the University of California, Berkeley, in 1930. An extra year of studies resulted in her receiving a secondary teaching credential. After three years of teaching high school in Biggs, Ca. Edwina wed the love of her life, J. Frank Park of Modesto, California. In 1934, they moved to Los Angeles where she was devoted to raising her family and community service. Edwina volunteered thousands of hours to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and the Children's Hospital of Los Angeles. Edwina was an inveterate traveler beginning with travels to Mexico in the late 1940's, the Caribbean area, Western and Eastern Europe, Japan, Southeast Asia, Russia, Africa, South America including Antarctica. She traveled to over 100 countries. Edwina is survived by her two siblings: sister, Shirley Schnabel, brother, Edward S. Dean, MD, children: Dean H. Park of Sacramento, California (Marilyn Park) and Diana P. Ashbrook of Melbourne, Florida (Rafael Tolentino). She will be missed by her loving grandchildren: Catherine P. Taylor of Sacramento, Margaret E. Park of Moreno Valley, Suzanne M. Park of Roseville, William Temple Withers Ashbrook, III of Vacaville, Bradley J. Ashbrook of Wellesley, Massachusetts and seven great- grandchildren. The family thanks Sunrise Assisted Living for their loving care.
