Appeal Democrat, July 24, 1989, Monday, Pg A-7 Ex-Sutter County official Hanlon Brown dies at 83 Services are scheduled Wednesday for former Sutter County Treasurer and Tax Collector Hanlon Brown, 83, of Yuba City, who died July 23, 1989, at Rideout Hospital. A native of Sutter, he had lived in the area his entire life. He was a county treasurer and tax collector for 27 years. Prior to that, he was a California Highway Patrolman for 17 years. He was a past president of the Native Sons of the Golden West No. 261 of Sutter and a past president and life member of the Twin Cities Rod and Gun Club of Yuba City and a life member of the Marysville Lodge of Elks. He was a life member of the Yuba City Kiwanis Club and a life member of Enterprise Lodge No. 70, F. & A.M. of Yuba City, a member of the Washington Chapter, Royal Arch Masons of Sutter and the Marysville Council No. 3, Cryptic Masons of Sutter, the Marysville Commandery No. 7, Knights Templar of Sutter and the Ben Ali Temple of the Shrine of Sacramento. He was a past president of the Central Sacramento Valley Shrine Club of Yuba City, a past president and life member of the California Tax Collectors Association and a past president of the California State Treasurers Association. He is survived by his wife, Ila Brown of Yuba City; a daughter, Betty Arnett of Yuba City; a brother, Errol Summy of Sacramento; and two grandchildren. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Ullrey Memorial Chapel. Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the chapel, with burial in Sutter Cemetery.
