The Marysville Appeal March 27, 1917 Sutter Young Man Called By Death Death came suddenly to Verne F Graves, 18, a student of the University of California and son of Mr and Mrs Albert Graves of Sutter City, who was on a visit to his parents. He caught cold while on an automobile ride and the cold developed in pneumonia. Because of his death the dedication of the Sutter grammar school indefinitely has been postponed. Graves was a native of this state and a indefinitely of the Del Rey Club at the University of California. Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at the family residence. The Marysville Appeal Wednesday March 28, 1917 Entire County Follows Sutter Lad to Grave Sutter City, March 27- Followed by nearly all the people of his home city and his school mates of last years and other years, the companions even of his babyhood, the body of Verne Frye Graves, University of California freshman who died suddenly while spending a brief vacation at home was ? to the grave this afternoon. The funeral services impressively simple were held at the family residence at 2 o'clock. The sermon was preached by the Rev. Paul Everett and the singing was by the choir of Mr and Mrs Schuyler Wadsworth and their son and daughter. The active pallbearers were fellow members of Graves of the Del Rey Club of Berkeley. The honorable pallbearers comprised the entire student body of the Sutter Union high school. Both of the pupils of the high and grammar schools attended the funeral in a body. The funeral was under the direction of Kelly Bros.
