Daily Appeal Feb 4, 1917 pg 8 Unable to clear up the mystery surrounding the death of Ralph Ellis Hartley found dead on the Waltz ranch in Sutter county the coroner's jury impaneled by Coroner P .W. Rowe yesterday returned a verdict that Hartley met his death from a gun shot wound from an unknown source. The jury was made up of J. E. Orr, foreman: V. M. Cassidy, C. E. Masten, Louis Klempp, F. B. Ware, Bennett Schillig and C. B. Kimball. FUNERAL IN WHEATLAND Funeral services will be held at the Methodist church tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock. Burial will be in the family lot in the Wheatland cemetery under the direction of R. E. Bevan & Son
