Appeal Democrat Thursday November 16, 1972 Sutter Rancher E.E. McPherrin succumbs at 76 Earl Elwood McPherrin, a native and life long resident of Sutter County died at his home yesterday at the age of 76. His grandfather, W.H. McPherrin was a pioneer Sutter County settler coming to the area from Illinois in 1859. His father, John Jacob McPherrin was also a native and lifelong sutter county resident. Born in 1896 McPherrin attended Brittan Grammar school. In 1916 he entered into a partnership with his father and operated the family's ranch, located seven miles north of Sutter. two years later he married the former Fay Summy of Meridian. He was a rancher all his life, raising various crops, sheep and other stock. Survivors include his wife of 54 years; four sons, Fayne, Calvert, and Merlin, all of Live Oak and Laverne of Sutter; a daughter, Corene Garcia of Concord and 11 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10 am Monday in Ullrey Memorial Chapel with rev H Earl Morris, pastor of the Sutter Community Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Sutter Cemetery. Marysville Appeal 09-20-1918 pg 4 Meridian couple wed A marriage license has been issued in Sacramento to Earl Elwood McPherrin, son of Mrs J. J. McPherrin and Miss Virginia Fay Summy, daughter of Mr and Mrs Will Summy, both of Meridian, Sutter County. Both young people are well known in Yuba and Sutter counties.
