Appeal Democrat December 03, 1973 B-2 col 3 McRae Rites Set Funeral services for J. Wilson McRae, a landmark in Yuba-Sutter musical life for nearly half a century will be conducted tomorrow. He died Saturday at Rideout Hospital. The son of pioneer Yuba City residents Mr and Mrs Alexander McRae, he was the band instructor at Yuba City High School for 32 years and taught music at Yuba College for 14 years following his retirement from the high school. He served in the Army during World War I as a first lieutenant and organized seven Army bands during his period of service. He was for many years Bandmaster of the Marysville City band and lived at 708 12th St., Marysville. Born in Yuba City, he was a life-long resident of this area. He was a 50 year member of Barker Lodge No. 129, F & A.M. at West point, KY and a member of the Kiwanis Club of Yuba City. He is survived by his wife, Hazel McRae of Marysville and one niece, Hazel McRae Carr of Chico. Services will be conducted at 2 pm tomorrow at Lipp & Sullivan Chapel by Dr. Edgar Nels on of the First United Methodist Church of Yuba City. Burial will be in Yuba City cemetery
