“Funeral Services For S. A. Balaam of Exeter Held Sunday
Exeter, Aug. 19. – Funeral services were held for Albert Swain Balaam, 64, who 
died late Friday evening [August 16, 1929] in the Delano hospital from injuries 
received when struck by an automobile near McFarland, at the Exeter First 
Baptist church Sunday morning [August 18] at 9 o’clock, Rev. Rector and Rev. W. 
M. McClearen, officiated.  Burial was made in the Exeter cemetery.
Deceased is survived by his widow and four children, Clinton and Austin Balaam, 
Mrs. Lola Barter [Carter] and Mrs. Alystyen Pruner all of Exeter and two 
brothers [sic], Sid Balaam and Waite Balaam, and one sister, Mrs. Emma Davis.”
