Funeral services are scheduled at 10 a.m. Friday at the Evans-Miller Chapel. The Rev. L.D. McNall will officiate. Burial will be in Exeter Cemetery. Mr. Balaam, the oldest of seven children, was born just outside the present city limits of Exeter. His great-grandparents, the late Mr. and Mrs. George R. Balaam, were pioneer settles of Tulare County. His grandparents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Balaam, were born in Exeter and at one time Alfred Balamm [sic] served as Tulare County sheriff. Mr. Balaam’s parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Balaam, also were born in Exeter. His mother was a member of the pioneer Bowman [Baumann] family. Mr. Balaam attended Exeter schools. He was affiliated with the Presbyterian Church. He was in the real estate business in Exeter for 51 years and also ranched. He also had a Chevrolet automobile business in Exeter in 1817 and 1918. Prior to that he was in the grocery business. He is survived by his widow, Georgia G. Balaam of Exeter; a brother, Clyde O. Balaam of Sacramento; a sister, Pilla Parsons of Apple Valley.
