“Former Exeter Cattleman Dies
Funeral services will be conducted tomorrow morning [December 15] in Yerington, 
Nev[ada] at 11 o’clock for H[erbert] Austin Balaam, 59, who died suddenly of a 
heart attack Saturday [December 12] in his home at Yerington.
Mr. Balaam had been engaged in the cattle business in the Nevada city since 
moving there from Exeter 10 years ago.  He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. 
Pat Balaam [Albert Swain Balaam], pioneer residents of the Exeter area.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Vera Glave [Glaze] Balaam of Yerington; a 
son, Don Balaam and two daughters, Mrs. Donna Jeanne Thomas and Mrs. Dody 
Newell, all of Yerington; a sister, Mrs. Lola Carter of Sarthmore [Strathmore]; 
a brother, Clayton Balaam of Delano, and eight grandchildren.
The private services will be held at the Freitas Funeral Home [Yerington, 
Nevada].
The family requests that remembrances be sent to the Heart Assn.” END
