“BORN IN FARMERSVILLE IN 1864, CHARLES BALAAM DIES

Charles Balaam, who was born in what is now Farmersville in 1864 and lived all 
of his life in Tulare county, has died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Paul 
Baxley, in Tulare.

Most of his life was spent as a teamster, operating into and out of the 
Sierras, but the latter years in Tulare, where he operated Dad’s Transfer.

His favorite story of the early days, and he had many of them, was of the time 
when as a youngster in his ‘teens he drove a flock of turkeys from Farmersville 
to San Francisco.

Besides Mrs. Baxley, he leaves a son, Clarence, of Waukena; a brother, Edward 
B. Balaam, of Farmersville, and a sister, Mrs. Ida Higdon, of San Jose.” END
