Balaam TULARE – Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday [February 7] in the Hamilton Peers Chapel for Clarence Clayton Balaam, 71, a farmer, who died yesterday [February 4, 1967] in a Corcoran hospital. Burial will be in the Tulare Cemetery with the Tulare Grange officiating. He was born on a homestead at Badger [Tulare County] and attended schools in Exeter. In 1916 he played with the San Francisco Seals baseball team, and for many years managed a semi-pro team here. He was a charter member of the Presbyterian Sunday school, a member of the Tulare Farm Bureau and the Grange and had lived in Waukena [Tulare County] 40 years. He was a trustee of the school district. He was a third-generation Tulare County resident. His grandfather was an early- day sheriff. He is survived by his widow, Frances, of 555 Bonita Drive; his daughters, Mrs. Jean Stinson and Nancy Balaam of Merced, Mrs. Claire Byrd of Tulare, Mrs. Billie Nell Hughson of Newark, N.Y., and Mrs. Mary Lou Starr of Tracy; his sons, Clarence of Waukena, Clayton and George of Tulare; his brothers, Herbert of Exeter and Clyde of Sacramento; his sisters, Mrs. Frances Nelly McNees and Mrs. Lula French of Exeter, and Mrs. Larry Villa Parsons of Apple Valley; 22 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.” END Additional Comments: Unknown newspaper, February 5, 1967 (Sunday).
