Tyler, of Nordhoff, Ventura county, had passed away and that the remains would arrive here Wednesday morning for interment in the Porterville cemetery by the remains of his sons, Ansel and James Tyler, Jr. Mr. Tyler was one of the pioneer cattleman of this section, coming here from the north in 1860. He had a large range in the Deer Creek country and it was in honor of him and his brother, Mrs. Tyler Gwinn's husband, that Tyler creek was named. He discovered Hot Springs and at one time owned Bull Run Meadows. An old house erected by him on Tyler creek burned down a few days ago. Mr. Tyler moved to Bakersfield about twelve years ago and for the past two years had been living with his daughter, Mrs. Chas. Burton, at Nordhoff. Besides his widow he is survived by two sons and three daughters; Mrs. Burton and Job Tyler of Nordhoff, Mrs. Clara Pendleton of Dunsmuir and Wilko Tyler and Mrs. Grace Glass of Bakersfield. A brother, David Tyler, resides at Chico and a sister, Mrs. Cornelia Drew, in San Diego. Mr. Tyler was born in Michigan in 1834 and came to California in 1859. He was a charter member of the A.O.U.W., in Porterville, which order has no branch here now. Funeral arrangements have not been completed. J.C. McCabe will be in charge of the interment.
