The Double Crime of a Calfornia Farm hand
Gridley, cal., March 22, 
J.J. Evers, a farm hand, this morning lay in wait for Mrs. Christiana Onstott, 
and when she appeared fired a shot at her, but missed her. Evers thereupon 
atacked the woman with a large sledge hammer beating out her brains after 
which he shot and killed himself. The couple were engaged to be married, but 
Mrs.Onstott had later refused , hence the targedy. Mrs. Onstott, who cannot 
long survive her terrible injuries is a divorced woman with four sons and one 
daughter.
